Julie Betts Testwuide's inspiration for "Signs of the Adirondacks" began decades ago when a neighbor gave her an old sign. Julie and her kids painted it and used sticks for letters to create a "camp sign" for their first cabin in the Berkshires. The sign is now hanging at Julie's camp on Lake Placid in the Adirondacks in upstate New York, The sign has been changed and continues to serve as the centerpiece for annual family photos. For the past 20 years, Julie has photographed the unique and colorful signs in this book. She discovered these creative signs at various camps and businesses throughout the mountains and lakes in the Adirondack Park.
